Dining Room Makeover: From Farmhouse To Mid-Century Modern

Hey guys! Welcome to Kindred Homestead! Since this is the first week of the One Room Challenge I’m sure we have a lot of new faces here so I wanted to do a brief introduction. We are Guy & Tessa; a husband and wife duo specializing in helping the modern family create functional yet beautiful spaces in their home. We started on this journey about 4 years ago when we purchased our first home and began renovating it while popping out babies left and right. Now, while in a different home than our first, we continue to renovate our living spaces to fit the needs of our family but now, we also helps others do the same through in person and virtual interior design services.

This is our first time participating in the One Room Challenge and we could not be more excited! We are featuring our dining room in this challenge and while it may seem “finished” to most of you, we are actually in the process of restyling our entire home and transitioning to a more simplified, mid-century modern aesthetic. While we loved this room how it was we (meaning me, Tessa) never felt like I was “in love” with the layout and overall aesthetic. So we felt it was time for a change! While we’ve been working on the overall aesethic of our home for the last 2 months we wanted to share this room some what more intimately so you can really see the documented change from more of a farmhouse feel to a more mid-century modern meets family feel.

You can see the entire space and what it looked like BEFORE down below.

We hope that you enjoy this fun little transition and can maybe take away some things along the way! Check out some other awesome projects going on over on the One Room Challenge website.

As always, thank you for stopping by and we hope you come back!
