ORC Week 4: Refinished Bistro Chairs

Hey guys! It’s week 4 of the One Room Challenge and this week has probably the littlest change out of all the weeks, but HEY it’s progress even it’s only a little bit right? I’ve been wanting some vintage bistro chairs for a while now and while you can find them relatively inexpensive, I’ve really been challenging myself lately to be super creative when it comes to this challenge and see just how cheap I can buy things! So….I searched the good ol’ Facebook marketplace for a couple weeks and saw these old bistro chairs come up for sale for $10 a pop! I was like OK! I can do that!

So I sanded these rusted bad boys down (they were a dark brown color with brown cushions that were falling apart) and I grabbed some Rustoleom Black matte spray paint and went to town. Removing the cushions made spraying them so easy! It literally took me 30 minutes to finish all 3!

After I finished spraying the frames, we then decided to do a little something different with the seats and implement some natural wood tones. We got these 18” round seats from Menards (super inexpensive) and I decided to BLEACH them! I had talked to another person on Instagram about how to achieve that natural wood tones look without all the yellow and she told me how she recently bleached all her wood floors and they are beautiful you guys (you can check them out, her handle on IG is @oursimplehome). So I decided to try this new method and I love how they have turned out!

And that’s all for this week folks! I hope this gave you a good idea of how you too can refinish a pair of metal chairs super easily and inexpensively! Stay tuned for next week!!!
