This Week at Our Home

There are summers that simply pass by, and then there are the ones that quietly change you. This was one of those seasons for me. Somewhere between the belly laughs, late nights around the fire, slow mornings with coffee in hand, and countless lake swims, I realized I was healing a part of myself I didn't even know needed healing. I remembered that slowing down isn't the same as falling behind, and that choosing my family over constant productivity isn't failure—it's the life I've been searching for all along. More than anything, I want to hold onto this feeling long after the seasons change, carrying it with me through the busier months ahead.

For so long, I believed a more beautiful life had to exist somewhere else. I thought contentment lived in a different town, a different pace, or a different version of my life. But this summer reminded me that the life I've been hoping for was waiting right where I already was. By embracing small-town living instead of wishing it away, I found gratitude in the ordinary, discovered a community of people who felt the same quiet longing, and finally gave myself permission to build a life I genuinely love—without waiting for something bigger to arrive. If this summer taught me anything, it's that the richest, fullest life isn't always found somewhere else. Sometimes it's been here all along, just waiting for us to slow down enough to notice it.
