How We Achieved a Natural White Oak Floor Finish
When we refinished the hardwood floors in our 1920s Craftsman home, our goal was to keep the wood looking natural and timeless while minimizing the yellow undertones that often appear in white oak. After some experimenting, we found a method that combined water-based matte polyurethane with a white tint, layered gradually to soften the warmth while still letting the natural grain of the wood shine through.
