The Office Reveal: From Playroom to Cigar Lounge Charm
It’s hard to believe this office makeover started five years ago. Back then, this room was nothing more than a catchall: part TV room, part toy room, part “shut the door and forget about it.”
When we decided to make it a true office, Guy built these beautiful built-ins by hand, and suddenly the space felt established; like it had always been meant for deeper conversations, late-night projects, and the occasional cup of strong coffee.
Head to our Office Room Source page to get further information for details in this room (i.e. the hardware, light, paint finish, and more!).
We painted the shelves and walls in Pewter Green by Sherwin-Williams, a deep, moody tone that leans just the right amount masculine. From the very beginning, we envisioned this space with cigar-lounge vibes: layered, timeless, and filled with pieces that tell a story.
Almost every piece of furniture in here has been thrifted or sourced from Facebook Marketplace: the desk, the chairs, the lamps, even a few of the art frames. Nothing feels too “new,” and that’s exactly what we love about it. Every scuff and worn edge feels lived-in and earned.
If you followed along with The Bookshelf Chronicles series, on Instagram, you saw how much love (and dust!) went into restyling these shelves. They’ve become the heart of the room, filled with old books, family photos, and bits of our story layered in between.
What started as a playful experiment in decluttering turned into a reminder that home is always evolving. And sometimes, the best rooms are the ones that take years to come together. Thank you so much to those of you that have tuned into this series! I’d love to hear what you’d like to see next!
