Close To The Finish Line: See What's Happening At The Flip!

Hey Friends, its been a while since we’ve done an update here on our flip house and so much has happened it’s hard to even know where to start! We do do a better job of keeping our followers updated on the more day to day things over on Instagram (@kindredhomestead) and we like to do semi-weekly IGTV videos of progress over there as well. Here are some of our most recent videos:

Close To The Finish Line: See What's Happening At The Flip!

So as you can see A LOT has happened! Tile went in! EEEEKKKK! This was a fun one for me because I had really been wanting to try out some different tile and tile layouts but unfortunately it just didn’t fit into our budget to do so. So stuck with good old fashion subway and used our imaginations.

That’s the thing with flips, you have to have a BIG VISION in the beginning but ok with letting go of some of those ideas when push comes to shove and the money just isn’t there because this issue popped up and that issue came up. It’s hard to do, but it’s so much better in the end to just roll with the punches and push yourself creatively.

We tried this basketweave tile pattern for the big bathroom with a light gray grout and love how it turned out! I love that this look is timeless but also different! And for the floor we chose a 10” hexagon tile with light gray grout as well. I love how all the different patterns create so much texture in this space!

And while I didn’t get a chance to photograph the other two bathrooms or the entryway, but they are all tiled and ready to go! It feels so good to be one step closer to the finish line! And now that we are done with tile, we are on to sanding the hardwood floors! AHHHH!

We had to patch in quite a lot of new oak floors in places that there was damaged floors or where walls had been taken down and in the midst of that we uncovered hardwood floors in the kitchen which was awesome but they aren’t the same exact type of flooring as the rest of the house. But honestly, we have dealt with this in our own home and have learned how to create a consistent color even with having two different flooring types side to side. It’s just another hoop we have had to learn to jump through! :)

They started sanding in the upstairs first and what would you know, the floors up here are ANOTHER type of wood than the two that are downstairs! I tell you what…these 100 year old houses sure do keep you on your toes. We love the look of this old pine flooring and will be doing a new technique to get it to match the downstairs hardwoods. So stay tuned for that!

Guy has been working his tail off this past month and had lost 30 pounds in the process!!!! Isn’t that insane! He’s back down to his college wrestling weight, which we joke about all the time. But seriously, this man is the hardest working man I know. He puts his all into these flips to ensure everything is going as smoothly as possible. I am so proud of him and all that he does.

Well, that’s all for now guys! I hope you enjoyed this short and quick little update! Remember to follow us on Instagram for daily updates!
