Life Lately: What’s Next?

It’s been a long time since I actually used this platform to write anything heartfelt. Funny fact though…over 7 years ago I started a blog as a way to “journal” my way through motherhood. And somewhere along the way I “lost my voice;” I got so caught up in everything home decor and design related that I stopped sharing my heart. A lot has changed in the last 7 years though — we have had two more babies (totaling FOUR Kirby kids), moved twice, flipped 10 different properties, and launched our business - Kindred Homestead - where we help others create luxury spaces in their homes that speak to them.

I would be lying if I said, I love life just the way it is (not that you have to love EVERY aspect of life). I have found over the past 10 years of being a wife, a mom, and an enneagram 3, that often I have a hard time feeling content. I love exploring creatively, changing out wall colors, diving deep into a good book, creating simple experiences with my kids that speak to simpler days gone by, thrifting beautiful furniture, and creating close connections with the people around me. But over the last 2 years I have felt such a stirring in my heart, a sort of restless stirring, that feels a lot like an awakening…an uncomfortable one at that.

Without getting too specific, Guy and I, have been fervently praying over the future of our business & our family. While we love doing what we do and getting to experience that together, our hands are never closed to new opportunities and gentle nudgings. We want to always live with the mindset that God knows exactly what we need, when we need it and we get to partner with Him to bring those “stirrings” to life. So be praying with us as we navigate this gentle nudging, we would so appreciate it!

I hope to use this platform to be a little bit more consistently on the blogging front…to share life and it’s many ups and downs, to find my voice again and connect in a way I have always loved…written stories that are relatable to many. I hope you will continue to join us.
