The Pennsylvania Kitchen Floor Installed + What’s Next

It’s been a long time coming for this beautiful marble floor to be laid! The vision has been set in motion for almost a year now and now that it’s here I just could not be more in love with how it looks. Our design intention for this project was to reinsert as many “original” time stamped elements back into this 1920’s home as possible. So when it came to the kitchen we spared no expense. We went all out with true marble tile.

We used 12x12 honed marble tiles. The black is a Marquina Black marble and the white is a Statuary marble.

We are nearing the home stretch now, as kitchen cabinets will go back in this week! YAY! We went with custom cabinets (which I cannot wait to show you guys soon!). And after those are installed we will be putting up the bead board paneling as our “backsplash.” Once that is in place we’ll be able to template for countertops! We are going with a soapstone quartz that I cannot wait for! And all the appliances are FINALLY here so we will be able to install those shortly as well!

Funny story, the drywallers, accidentally drywalled over the can lights that were installed in the kitchen! (OOPS! haha! The joys of construction that most people don’t talk about!) So those will also need to be uncovered! And at the beginning of November all the hardwood floors will be getting refinished (they NEED it!). Once all those things are done we will REALLY be in the home stretch with all the finishing touches!

Stay tuned!
