This Week at Our Home
This week felt like a little reminder of why I love sharing this corner of the internet.
For a long time, I thought creating beautiful content meant giving people something to aspire to—a bigger house, a prettier renovation, a more impressive life. But somewhere along the way, sharing our old house, small-town life, unfinished projects, and all the ordinary pieces in between started to feel much more meaningful. The more real life I share, the more I hear some version of “me too.” And maybe that’s the whole point.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes a home feel collected rather than perfectly coordinated. Pieces gathered over time, a mix of old and new, and rooms that can evolve with the people living in them. That feeling was at the heart of this week’s entryway mood board and new finds, along with a few ideas for making a home feel welcoming without making it feel overly styled.
As the seasons shift, I’m also naturally craving those little changes that make home feel warmer. Cozy fall textiles and linens have been an easy place to start—soft layers, pretty patterns, and simple swaps that make a room feel ready for the season.
The kitchen is getting a little attention, too, with cozy kitchen finds that bring some extra warmth and character to the everyday spaces we use most.
And then there’s lighting. I’ve officially entered my annual lamp-o’clock era, when the afternoon light starts fading and suddenly every lamp in the house needs to be on before dinner. I shared some Amazon lighting finds with that collected, character-filled look I’m always drawn to. There’s just something about warm lamplight that can make an ordinary Tuesday feel a little more special.
In My Cart This Week
September also gave us one of those rainy afternoons I secretly wait for all summer—the kind that makes you want to cancel everything, light a candle, make another cup of coffee, and put on a movie you’ve seen far too many times. No big plans, no productivity goals. Just being home and letting an ordinary afternoon feel really, really good.
I’ve also been thinking about vulnerability and what it means to share more of the person behind the pretty pictures. After years of doing this, it can still feel surprisingly vulnerable to let people see the real life underneath it all. But lately, that honesty has brought a different kind of connection. Less about building an audience and more about finding the people who understand the season you’re in.
Maybe that’s what I love most about this space now: it can hold the beautiful rooms and the messy ones, the pretty finds and the unfinished projects, the quiet mornings and the very real chaos that follows.
As always, thank you for being here and for making this such a beautiful, thoughtful community. I’m truly so grateful for each of you.
