This Week at Our Home

There’s something about October that makes home feel especially important.

Maybe it’s the lamps coming on earlier, a candle burning in the afternoon, coffee at home with nowhere else to be. The kind of cozy that isn’t really about buying more, but about noticing what you already have and making it feel good.

That’s been on my mind lately. So many of us are living ordinary, beautifully imperfect lives—older cars in the driveway, smaller homes, budgets to consider, hard seasons alongside the good ones. We’re much more alike than we realize. And maybe that’s why the simplest glimpses of home tend to resonate most.

And then there’s the fun of making cozy happen without spending a fortune. I’m still firmly in my faux and foraged era: dried hydrangeas from the yard, branches gathered outside, and a growing collection of faux pumpkins that I add to a little at a time. I pulled together some Amazon finds in those warm, earthy tones that make a home feel especially inviting this time of year.

Even our porch entryway got a little attention this week. I love the idea that the first few feet inside your home can feel like a hug—warm lighting, collected pieces, a little texture, something that makes you want to stay awhile.

In My Cart This Week

This week I was drawn to pieces that bring a little of that feeling home, from Walmart and Birch Lane finds to a few things currently in my cart. I also spent some time looking through the newest Joon Loloi pieces, which feel so layered and collected—very much at home in an autumn house.

Because maybe that’s what I’m after most this season: not a perfect home or a more expensive one, but a home that feels like ours. A place where the lamps are on by 4, there are probably too many candles burning, something warm is waiting for dinner, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.

Happy October, friends.

As always, thank you for being here and for making this such a beautiful, thoughtful community. I’m truly so grateful for each of you.
