The Power of Paint & Wall Textures

It’s no suprise that there is a whole lot of POWER in a freshly painted room but have you ever stopped to think about adding a bit of texture to that beautifully painted canvas!? In our home (and in a lot of the houses we renovate), we have a SLEW of wall textures that we added in to create even more drama and layering to our spaces. Take a look at some of our favorite!

4” Vertical Paneling

We put this high wainscoting vertical paneling with a picture shelf and peg rails in our entryway a few years ago and it felt like time stood still in this space. It was the perfect addition for this quaint Craftsman home we have.

Board & Batten

When we had our 4th child in 2019 we installed this board and batten into his nursery and painted it a crisp white. I love how these walls have grown with him and are still one of my favorite wall texture elements to date!

Picture Frame Moulding

We LOVE picture frame moulding for so many reasons but especially because it is one of the simplest DIY projects to date and adds elegant, elevated energy to every room it’s in. We have it in our living room & office (pictured below), as well as, our master bedroom.

Beadboard Paneling

We recently refinished our daughters shared bedroom space and decided to do an accent wall with beadboard and a picture shelf. Again, this is one of the most affordable materials to work with when trying to elevate a space. Add some paint and VOILA!

Vertical Shiplap

A couple years ago when we renovated this House on Main St. we added vertical shiplap in the kitchen (instead of backsplash) and in the upstairs guest bathroom. It was the perfect way to achieve that simple cottage aesthetic that we wanted this home to embody.
